Hi ladies & gents,
I've been reveling in the successful turnout at the Southern Comforts Fiber Market. First of all, I'm giving a big shout-out to the event organizers and volunteers who hosted the event and made the magic happen. Secondly, my friend, Mary, has graciously opened her home to my pets and I so that we could spend time together and so that she could babysit while I was away at the event. Her support made this trip seamless. Thirdly, I'm appreciative to the friends I've gotten to collab with: Michelle for her aromatherapy products (moth repellent and salve to combat pain), Ken & Amy for their East Friesian-Tunis sheep fleeces, and Lydie for her design skills on my yarn labels. Lastly, this event was divine and full of big-bertha blessings. Here's what I mean pertaining to trials and deliverance:
Thursday, August 7th (setup day):
- I successfully setup my 10x10' vendor section.

Ready to make my way home (2.5 hour drive), my truck wouldn't start! (I was grateful for being at the venue and parked.) My friend, Heather from Studio 256, tried to jump my truck to no avail. 
- Finally, the truck started twice but died before I could remove the cables from the battery. That meant either battery or alternator problems (and I had recently had the truck inspected to be road-ready, *sigh*)
- Dawn, one of the organizers, offered for me to sleep at her house... she was so considerate and sweet to offer. I appreciate her cheerfulness and compassion.
- To make matters better, another event organizer, Jennifer, gave me a lift to the airport so that I could get a rental car! That saved me from having to wait for and pay for an Uber.
- I got to Avis rental car and the receptionist I previously spoke to on the phone to verify if they had an available car told me she didn't have any and abruptly left the front desk. She clearly didn't want to help. I prayed that God would work the situation out. Shortly after, another receptionist, Jennifer, walked in and helped set me up with a vehicle. Yay God and yay Jennifer the God-send!
- I was able to drive home to gather the rest of my inventory for show day. And my truck was left in a safe place and in a major city where the auto-parts stores, mechanics, and public transportation were plenteous. What a great place to break down in and wonderful people to enjoy amidst a pesky situation.
Friday, August 8th (Day 1):
- I enjoyed getting to know the vendors around me from CF Tomhik Designs, J&E Homestead, and A Spare Room.
- (What is the likelihood of meeting a Marine Corps sister who is also in the fiber industry?)
- The customers were lovely! I'm so appreciative they stopped by.
- I enjoyed the small rental vehicle for how zippy it was and for the gas efficiency.
- I figured I'd deal with getting the truck towed to a shop the next day and extend the rental car. But how during a show?
Saturday, August 9th (Day 2):
- Joel & Emily at J&E Homestead are guardian angels! Shout-out to two Marine Corps veterans who add value to society and helped a sista out! Joel replaced my alternator while Emily manned their booth. I was able to sit pretty and sell yarn while he made trips to the auto store to buy an alternator and test my battery. He slaved away in the hot sun and heat to make sure I got home safely. Talk about proof of "Semper Fidelis".
- My friend Jeff made the trip up to keep me company. It was great to watch him make friends with some of the men their (one who was knowledgeable about lumber, trucking, and regulations, and another about carpentry and faith). He also helped me tear-down after the show which I appreciated!
- The energy and excitement of the customers was buzzing! I was happy to see people enjoying what I had made.
- I scored a free Spinster t-shirt! So grateful for that!
- When I thought the joy of the event was over, the moment was extended and multiplied. Jeff and I went to hibachi and low and behold, a couple canceled their reservation so we were placed at a table with three couples. It turns out, they were also vendors at the show. We enjoyed talking about a plethora of topics and the chef was exciting and talented.
As Flyleaf sung, "I can feel you all around me" - I'm singing that to you, God. Thank you for always being with me and making yourself unforgettable. I see your love, and you as a supplier and deliverer. Received, loud and clear!

Hi crafters, makers, and traditionalists.
I got accepted (yay!) as a vendor at the Southern Comforts Fiber Market! Please see what the fun is about and stop by my booth so we can nerd out on the new inventory I've been working hard at making.
Tickets are $5 and parking is free. There will be classes and lots of vendors.
